How to care for a leather sofa?

Leather sofas are nowadays a very common and popular part of Czech households. However, their minor disadvantage is that they are very difficult to maintain. They require cleaning with various special preparations, regular impregnation and generally very gentle handling. This is the only way your leather sofa will last long enough at home.

In general, drier and warmer environments are not good for leather sofas. This is where the seats lose their typical elasticity and begin to crack and harden. For this reason, its correct placement is key. Avoid being near a fireplace or heater. Also, try to keep the sunlight on it as little as possible.

A key feature in relation to leather seats is frugality. Do not sit on them wearing jeans, a belt or a jacket. This can be a problem mainly for lighter seats, which tend to get dirty quickly. Do not place any advertising materials or magazines on them either. They can also leach the paint and the leather of the seat and make it dangerously dirty.

If you are asking about impregnation, it is advisable to impregnate the leather sofa regularly, about twice a year. The first application of impregnation should ideally take place immediately after purchase, the second after about six months. When impregnating, don't forget a very soft cloth that won't easily damage the surface of the leather sofa.
